Locke on Personal Identity

Yesterday I mentioned a text by John Locke as a paradigm of the self-constituting character of the first person. I was referring to Chapter 27 of Book 2 of Locke's Essay concerning human understanding (second edition, 1694). Arguably, the single most important text on personal identity in Western philosophy.
