Full Professor for the History of Religions, in service at the Faculty of Humanities of Sapienza Università di Roma from November 2007.
He graduated in History of Religions in 1994 with Giulia Piccaluga, and Tullio De Mauro, in 1999 he received the PhD in Religious history at the University of Rome La Sapienza. From 2000 to 2004 he was research fellow at the Department of Religious Studies of the same university. He received his post doctorate at the Italian Institute of Human Sciences (Florence). In the academic years 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 he held teachings in M-STO/06 - History of Religions for the Degree Course in History of Religions of the Faculty of Humanities Sapienza Università di Roma and for the Faculty of Oriental Studies. He teaches symbology of dressing in the degree Course in Fashion studies of Sapienza, and History of Religions and Methodology of the history of religions for the Degree and Master degree of the Department of History, Cultures, Religions. He is President of the Teaching board of the degree and master degree in Fashion studies. He conceived and coordinated the series of books published by Nuova Cultura "Symbolism of dress", Rome. He is Director of the book series "Chi siamo - History of Religions" (Bulzoni, ROme). He is: scientific advisor of the series published by Società Editrice Fiorentina Religion identity cultures, Florence; member of the Scientific Committee of the series ‘Intersections‘, Department of History Culture Religion Sapienza University of Rome (Nuova Cultura Editor); Director of Studi e Materiali di Storia delle Religioni; member of the Scientific Committee of ° Ilu, Revista de Ciencias de las religiones, coordinator of the PhD in History of Europe. He is director of the research project "Sapienza sciamanica". The main research topics of his publications are the experimental teaching of the history of religions proposed in Italian schools, historiography and methodology of comparative religion, the relationship between performance and religion between Christianity and paganism, the relationship of Identity and Otherness. He is currently devoted to the study of the Late Antiquity and of Religious Pluralism: His latest works are focused in particular on the Code of Theodosius II. Among the main interests: the study and application of the historico-religious method to mythology and functions of the sacred story, studying the ethnographic confrontation with otherness and religious history and religious symbology (with specific reference to the dynamics of clothing).
