Quantitative Approaches to Use-Wear and Residue Analyzes ") e Quaternary International(" From Food to Environment: Advances in Ancient Dental Calculus Research "). Ha pubblicato più di 60 articoli su riviste internazionali di peer review come PNAS, J.of Human Evolution, Scientific Reports, J.of Archaeological Sciences andQuaternary International, ed editato curatele.

SHORT OVERVIEW ON RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Emanuela Cristiani is Associate Professor of Prehistoric Archaeology at Sapienza University of Rome, where she leads the DANTE - Ancient Diet and Technology Laboratory at the Dept. of Oral and Maxillo Facial Sciences. Cristiani’s main research activity focuses on the study of Mesolithic and Early Neolithic societies of southern Europe and the characterization of their identities, traditions and dietary strategies. As a specialist ofthe use wear and residue analysis of material culture, Cristiani investigates such topics by characterisingtechno-functional choices connected with the production and use of material culture (e.g., ground stone tools, knapped/osseous tools, ornaments). More recently, she explored the role of plant foods in ancient foragers diet and technology through the analysis of human dental calculus, and integrating different strands of human/ cultural evidence. Within this main research focus, she also developed new quantitative 3D morphometric approach for the study of ancient ground stone technology and function and edited two special issues on J. of Archaeological Science: Reports (“Understanding Plant Food-Related Technology. Quantitative Approaches to Use-Wear and Residue Analyses”) and Quaternary International (“From Food to Environment: Advances in Ancient Dental Calculus Research”). She published more than 60 articles in international peer-review journals such as PNAS, J. of Human Evolution, Scientific Reports, J. of Archaeological Sciences and Quaternary Internationaland edited volumes.
